Flowers and bugs, Oh My!

Holy cow, it was a hot morning!  When I left the house this morning at 06:00AM CST it was already 82 degrees and muggy as can be.

I decided that since I’m taking my co-workers daughter out tomorrow to my favorite picture spot that I would do some scouting first to better the odds of having a great day tomorrow.  Well let me tell you, I HAD A BLAST!  Only saw a couple of deer, but I believe it’s because I got to Eagle Bluffs a little to late in the morning.  Most of them were heading if not already into the woods where it was shady and cooler.  I saw a ton of little bugs and butterflies today but only was able to capture a couple on the camera.  Some of the flower photos I took really make me go ” WOW “, I took that?  You may not think they are the best or good for that matter, but I truly believe this was the best time I’ve ever had taking pictures of flowers.

Anyway, you must want the link by now so here it is.  -= Link =-

Please Enjoy!

Belkin : Gigabit Powerline HD Starter Kit.belkinplug1

Was out on Belkin’s website checking out thier Gigabit Powerline HD Starter Kit.  Looks promising if it can deliver and here are the specs for the thing…  Oh and the price is not bad at $149.99USD

Create an ultrafast HD entertainment network through your home’s electrical wiring.Imagine reliably sending HD movies from the Internet directly to your home theater system through just the wires already in your home. No need for special wiring. With Belkin’s Gigabit Powerline HD starter kit, it is that simple. Connect one Adapter to an existing home router and then simply plug it into the wall outlet. Gonna be getting me a Popcorn Hour C-200!

c200_thumb

Popcorn Hour C-200 – Throw Media At It and It Will Play It | We Got Served – Windows Home Server & Your Digital Home.

Popcorn Hour look set to unleash a brand new digital media receiver soon, and it’s looking mighty fine! The C-200 comes with a two SATA hard drive sockets, HDMI out, and most interestingly, a drive bay into which you can fit a Blu-ray, DVD or additional hard drive.

We’ve heard from a lot of people in the past who really love the previous Popcorn Hour, as it plays almost any audio and video format you throw at it. The C-200’s supported formats are similarly impressive:

Special day today

One of my older brothers decided he would join me today on my trip to Eagle Bluffs conservation area.  Boy did we have a nice time!  For the first time out there I was able to observe an American Beaver eating on a stick and swimming around.  He was nice and healthy it seemed and he even had a radio collar on.  We also were able to see many, many deer some with little ones some without.

The flowers seem to be blooming now and the dragon flies are starting to show up. The small song birds are really vocal now , so maybe tomorrow I can get out with my 300mm lense with the macro function and get some nice photos of flowers and bugs.  If you want to see the few photos I took today click on the link below…

Eagle Bluffs is my kinda place

Got a late start on the day which kinda bummed me out, but at least I got to sleep in a little bit. I pulled into Eagle Bluffs Conservation area around 07:45am this morning and took my normal walk-about to see what was moving. It turned out to be one hot morning when you have a dark camo shirt on and camo hat, even if it was only 75F.

I was able to see a female white tailed deer and fawn, several birds including two that I’ve never seen before. Need to get a conformation on what they are from a friends of mine. Anway, if you would like to see the pictures just follow the linke –HERE–

Have a great day!

What a beautiful day

Woke up this morning at 04:30am and decided that since today was my last free day this week before having to go back to work that I would head off to Eagle Bluffs again.

That place never disappoints me in just what you can see on a day to day basis.  I had ducks, geese, shore birds, song/meadow birds and even deer all around me!  This morning was a very foggy day and at a couple of spots it was so thick that I could bearly see my hand in front of my face, but it all worked out and once the sun started to warm up the ground the fog slowly lifted and all the animals were on the move.  I stood on a levee for almost an hour waiting for the fog to lift enough so that I could begin my little journey and once it had lifted and I could start to make out distance off in the distance.  Part of me was ready to go and start exploring but the other half really hated to see the fog leave, it was like I was in a different would.
Anyway, I’m sure you would just rather look at my pictures that I took instead of listening to me ramble on so here it is.. –LINK–

Fun in the sun

Went to Eagle Bluffs today and had just a wonderful time.  I arrived around 05:30 and the sun was just starting to peek over the east side bluff which was splashing a rusty red color over the fields.  I saw around 20 deer today at various places on the property, several ducks, geese and many many song birds.

I was able to see two Sand-Hill Cranes today but they were to far away to get a picture.  Also my new discovery is ending up being a very shy photography subject. Last week I was privileged enough to see three river otters near pools 6 & 7 and today I noticed one around pool 5.  He would come up out of the water long enough to see where I was and bloop, back in the water he went.  I tried for over 30 minutes to acquire a picture of him, but he was having none of it.  Anyway, if you would like to see my pictures of today please click  –HERE–.

As always, get out and take a camera!

- Jamie
